Nancy Kitz

I believe that every client deserves the absolute best care delivered with genuine attention to their overall wellness. With more than a decade of experience as a dental hygienist, I’m passionate about providing an environment where people feel comfortable and cared for.

Originally from Nova Scotia, I am a graduate from the Dalhousie University Dental Hygiene Program in 2013 and have been proudly practicing in Alberta since.

I’m a wife, mom of two and my family is always on the move. Whether its walking the Ranche trails,  joining community events or staying strong at the gym. An active lifestyle inspires my commitment to helping others feel their best, inside and out.

What to Expect at Your Visit

At Greystone Dental Hygiene, your visit is designed to feel calm, unrushed, and supportive. We take a personalized approach to care, focusing on your comfort, oral health needs, and overall well-being.

A Warm Welcome
You’ll be welcomed into a relaxed, home-based clinic setting. Families and children are always welcome, and we understand that visits don’t have to be perfect to be positive.

Personalized Assessment
We begin with a review of your medical and dental history, followed by a comprehensive oral health assessment. If radiographs (X-rays) are recommended, we’ll explain their purpose and ensure they’re clinically appropriate for you.

Preventive Care
Your visit may include professional cleaning (scaling and root planing), periodontal assessment, and personalized oral health education. Care is tailored to your individual needs and delivered at a comfortable pace.

Comfort-First Experience
We prioritize your comfort throughout the appointment. Extra time, breaks, questions, and a quieter environment are always welcome.

Clear, Supportive Communication
Before you leave, we’ll review any findings, discuss recommendations, and make sure you feel informed and confident about your oral health.

What Is Holistic Dental Hygiene?

Holistic dental hygiene is a patient-centred approach to care that recognizes the close relationship between oral health and overall health. While keeping your teeth and gums healthy remains our primary focus, we also consider the many factors that can influence your oral health and your overall well-being.

This means looking beyond what is happening in your mouth alone. We take into account factors such as nutrition, inflammation, sleep quality, airway health, mouth breathing, dry mouth, medications, lifestyle habits, medical history, and your individual health goals. By understanding the bigger picture, we can provide care and recommendations that are tailored specifically to you.

At Greystone Dental Hygiene, we believe prevention and education are just as important as treatment. Our goal is to help you better understand your oral health, support healthy habits, and provide personalized care that aligns with your needs and values.

The Connection Between Oral Health & Overall Health

Your mouth is home to a diverse community of bacteria, most of which are harmless when kept in balance through good oral hygiene and regular professional care. However, when gum disease develops, the gums can become chronically inflamed, allowing bacteria and inflammatory by-products to enter the bloodstream.

Researchers continue to study the relationship between oral health and overall health. Studies have found associations between periodontal (gum) disease and a number of systemic conditions, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, stroke, rheumatoid arthritis, respiratory disease, Alzheimer's disease, and certain pregnancy complications. While these associations do not mean that gum disease directly causes these conditions, they highlight the important role oral health plays in supporting overall wellness.

Maintaining healthy teeth and gums is an important part of preventive healthcare. By reducing inflammation, identifying concerns early, and supporting healthy habits, we can help you protect not only your smile but also your long-term oral health as part of your overall well-being.
